A machine shop is a place where metal pieces are cut, assembled and machined into new products. Metalworking can be very intricate work that requires precision in order to produce quality parts. There are many different jobs available for people interested in this industry including CNC Machinist, Toolmaker and Quality Inspector.
A Fitting and Assembling position requires a person to use precision in order to assemble metal parts together. This can be for machines or equipment such as turbines, printing presses, cranes etc. The work is done through manual labour and using hand tools such as hammers, drills and saws.
A typical day at work includes the following:
-assembling metal parts together
-fitting machinery and other equipment
-using hand tools such as drills, hammers and saws to do the work. Machines are also used for production purposes but in this position, you will be doing most of your work by hand.
