Professional Diploma in Gynae & Child Health
Pediatric gynecology is a branch of Gynae & Child Health that deals with the health needs of girls who have not yet reached adolescence or are in early adolescence. Pediatric gynecologists care for common problems such as labial adhesions and vulvovaginitis.
They also play an important role in assessing congenital genital tract anomalies and disorders of sex development – although this tends to occur in adolescents, despite the benefits of early recognition during infancy and childhood. With the onset of puberty, many women experience symptoms such as heavy periods and ovarian cysts.
When you’re 12 years old and your vagina is itching, burning, or has discharge but the symptoms have been going on for more than two weeks without any other known reason, it could be a sign of an infection. You may need to see a pediatric gynecologist. A pediatric gynecologist provides medical care for girls before they become adults.
