Professional Diploma in General Electrician
If you are considering an electrical career, it is important to know the difference between the three levels of certification. The first level is Apprentice – this covers basic skills in installation and repair.
A journeyman is a more advanced level that requires one year of apprenticeship experience and passing a journeyman exam. Master Electrician has all of the knowledge from both Apprentice and Journeyman, as well as five years of apprenticeship experience.
The Apprenticeship Program: Prospective electricians must complete the apprenticeship program, which consists of a minimum number of hours on the job and informal training.
They will also need to pass an exam administered by their state’s department of labour and industry or agency responsible for administering apprenticeships.
