Certified Professional In Computer Hardware and Software Technology
A computer is a machine that manipulates data, often using input provided by an operator to produce output. A computer is made up of both hardware and software. The machine’s hardware includes the central processing unit (CPU) and memory (RAM), while its software can be anything from video games to Microsoft Word.
The physical hardware of a computer is anything that you can see and touch. This includes your keyboard, mouse, monitor/screen, speakers, disc drive (CD or DVD), modem, printer etc.
Computer software refers to the programs we use on our computers – for example, Microsoft Word or Google Chrome. Programs are divided into two main categories – applications that provide specific functionality like word processors and games; and operating systems that control how these applications interact with each other as well as managing input & output devices such as mice and keyboards.
