The application of systems engineering (SE) to commercial aircraft presents a set of requirements and processes unique to the commercial aircraft industry. SE can be applied to new, derivative, and change-based aircraft design. The concept of an aircraft system extends beyond the aircraft itself.
There are many components that must work together flawlessly for safe flight operations in today’s complex world.
They also develop and engineer electronic systems for ground-based aircraft to support the overall mission of a given system.

· Advanced Display System (ADS) with Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) integration, which provides pilots access to flight documentation without interruption from cockpit duties. The new display was designed to be compatible with tablets as well as traditional paper charts, documents, and manuals;
· Mercury Spacecraft Guidance Computer replacement program required engineering teams at Lockheed Martin’s Dallas site – including more than 200 engineers, programmers, technicians and supervisors – focused on designing spaceflight computers for NASA flights until 2001 when their work was transferred offshore due to cost savings reasons;
